Rattley Plastic Trim In Tailgate

Recommended Posts

MikeHunt79

I've recently tried wiring a sine wave generator up to my amp, and it's great for finding rattles by finding the resonant frequency of certain rattley things...

I'm aiming for a rattle free 205 :D

I've found the plastic trim on the inside of the tailgate rattles and is really loosely mounted... I was wondering how to take it out without breaking anything?

Or would it be easier to leave it in go at it with the hot glue gun and try and stop it from rattling?

Also, if you don't have a signal generator, and want to find rattles, you can also use a test tone CD with pink noise and log sine sweeps on...

you just need to replace all the clips that hold the panel down, I have some if you want to buy them off me :) ( I cant remember how many there are, easy enough to tell from the panel if you remove it)

Cheers for the offer welshpug, but I may just take it off and be done with it. It will save weight as well. :)

I'll just get a screwdriver, or maybe a thin bit of wood under there, and get it off. I've done my door cards loads of times, so this should be similar by the sounds of it...

Just rip the bastard off! if you do want to keep it though nip down your local scrappy and nick the clips off any 205. I always fill my pockets with little bits and pieces like that :) regular tea leaf me

Simes

I put draft excluder around the edges inside mine and then clipped it all back together. Same with the interior light etc.

No rattles even with solid mounts.
