CaptainP 2 Posted February 10, 2008 Yeah, just pop a pry bar through the hole and bend it back. When I replaced the front bumper on the CTI over Xmas I noticed the horrors behind - they had fibreglassed the bumper to the irons instead of bending them back. I only ask as I had the bumpers off my very first GTI years ago and back then I was totally flumaxed as to how you get the brackets off! The irons have captive studs that stick out through the chassis rail that the bumper support bars bolt to. Both of mine sheared off when I tried to remove them. joey 0 Posted February 12, 2008 ah i see.. i wasnt sure where the second mounting nut was located,, as for bending it back i did this and wasnt happy wit the results so may as well replace. i can definatly see them shearing. i encountred ALOT of sheard bolts while in the process of unbolting the front bumper/ valance etc.. my side bumper mounts are also knackered(came off in my hand) ps anyone ever straightened the front of a 205, difficult no? there is no member that is naturally straight except for the bottom cross mem(under the rad) which is about 2mm thick my mate crashed his e30 lately and every member seems to be either horizontal or vertical,,damn German engineerin Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
