Have I Missed Something...

I bought a second hand 1.9 beam to put on my 1.6 and I have slowly been dismantling it as per the guide on the main website.

I think that i have removed everything so that I am at the stage or separating it.

Now I have had a go with a big hammer but as it is not shifting so I have started thinking that I have missed removing something.

If I haven then i will get serious with the hammer......

Thanks

Jonny

It should come loose, you just need more violence.

I drenched mine with a mixture of 90% white spirit, and 10% engine oil to keep the cost down - penetrates the rust real good.

Have you removed the 13mm nut from the stud at the opposite end of that torsion bar?

I can see you have on the r/h torsion bar in that picture so you possibly have.

Some need a lot of heavy work with a hammer to get them moving.

Great thanks, I have removed both 13mm nuts.

Sounds like to is hammer time.

So it is worth soakimg each end first too?

It can help but usually they are so well rusted in that it won't penetrate very much so brute force is the best option.

Hitting around the centre tube end of the torsion bar brackets can help shock any rust free but it doesn't make a massive amount of difference imo.
