welshpug 1,666 Posted February 6, 2008 check that valves are straight and not rattling about in the guides, send it to be pressure tested and checked for squareness, skimmed if needed. re-assemble with new seals, valves lapped in if needed.
mrblonde 0 Posted February 6, 2008 oh!.one last thing i dont know if its 1600 head or 1900 how do i tell that to please?..cheers
suth82 0 Posted February 6, 2008 Buy a head gasket kit from GSF as it will have nearly all seals & gaskets which you will need (head gasket, camshaft oil seal, inlet manifold gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, valve stem seals, etc.) Get the head skimmed & relap the valves. simonb 0 Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) As above but I would check the valve clearances and re-shim if needed. Also, I wouldn't worry about skimming unless the head is proven to be warped. Edited February 6, 2008 by simonb
Mattsav 1 Posted February 7, 2008 Definatley get it skimmed to up the CR. There's a bit of free power there. Seats cut (correct angles and widths), valves ground and back cut and shimmed. Most 8v's have shagged guides as well! email or phone me for details
