Another Fueling / Timing Question

Recommended Posts

McPikie

OK, is it best to sort fueling out before timing?

Lets say I sort fueling out, but then want to advance my timing, surely if I left it over fueling, I could advance my timing more?

Or is it just a compromise of the two?

I would sort the fueling out first as running lean can cause pinking. Then advance/retard the timing to suit. That way you can be sure that the engine is running as it should be without having to compromise.

if its running lean, how do you get the mixture up? a 1.9 gti engine btw.

Mine 1.9 is running lean and gives a low co when checked. so i think its power is down due to lean fueling.

best bet is to set the fueling first as it will prsent the greatest danger to the engine and makes a bigger differenc to the running of the enigne. set it all up so the car runs okand is getting the highest power it can, then do the igniton for your requirements then back to recheck the fuel and dyno it.
