Distributor Hose Attachment?

Recommended Posts

trialster

just noticed today that on the underside of my distributor there is a circular dish shaped component with a hose attachment on the side of it. i have two questions...

what is this component?

is there a hose supposed to be attached to it? :)

thanks!

Will :)

its the vacuum advance capsule, and yes indeed there should be a small pipe connected to it, and the other end should be on the underside of the throttle body, does it run like s*ite/a bit flat?

if you/someone has fiddled with the ignition timing previously you may well find it good practice to re-check it.

yeah, i think its currently timed up to suit it running without a vacuum hose..

any ideas on timing it up myself? i've heard you have to turn the dizzy away from the front of the car untill pinking is heard, and then turn it back forward slighty?

I would also recommend getting a length of 3mm silicone tubing from ebay as std hose just seems to go brittle and crack again in no time at all. Ignition timing has been done to death on here and so a search will bring up a load of results...
