Rich_p 23 Posted February 4, 2008 Just a quickie. My Gti could do with some new tyres before its first outing on an airfield rally in March. Its currently on the standard 185/55's. I may have some tyres I can use from the civc but these are in 195/50. Will this affect the handling car to much? if anything will it provide a little more grip? Sandy 191 Posted February 4, 2008 A little more grip, a little more tram-lining, but fine.
ledders 1 Posted February 4, 2008 The cheapest and in my humble opion the easiest way to improve the traction..
Rich_p 23 Posted February 4, 2008 Thanks Guys. Will it make the steering feel much heavier?

V8Pete 0 Posted February 5, 2008 (edited) While you're here, 205/50/15 - opinions? (they were free - just wondering if I should stick them on 205 GTI wheels) Edited February 5, 2008 by V8Pete
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted February 5, 2008 I don't think you'll get them under the rear arches in all honesty. I've used some semi slick 195/55/15's on my car and you can JUST about get away with them.
Jrod 7 Posted February 5, 2008 I had some 205/50's on my rallye. They came off the front of a 205 and were all cut up on the sidewall.
Ben 0 Posted February 5, 2008 While you're here, 205/50/15 - opinions? (they were free - just wondering if I should stick them on 205 GTI wheels) I've got 205's on the rear and they quite often rub and hit the arch
sNaKePiT 1 Posted February 8, 2008 I'm changing all the tyres on my pile of spare alloys from 185/55 to 195/50 YOKOHAMO PARADA SPEC-2. These are what I have on my GTI at the moment, and I swear by them!!!!

These are what I have on my GTI at the moment, and I swear by them!!!! Really? I have a pair on the front of my civic and I dont have much confidence in them at all compared to the previous Eagle F1's. In greasey conditions I find them awfull. They may fair better on track then the F1's did as they seemed to get hot very quickly and wore very strangly. The Paradas may be better on the much lighter weight 205 though
rescue dude 0 Posted February 14, 2008 I'm looking at changing the tyres on my roadgoing/hillclimb 205 to Paradas. I've heard good thing about them. Anyone here used them on their 205's? Opinions?
Peetypug 5 Posted February 14, 2008 i've not tracked with paradas but i've got them on my 306 i had toyo proxies before but these yokes are better, they dont wear as fast and they give very good grip no matter what the weather
