Pi 40mm Lowering Springs With 309 Gti *stock* Beam?

Recommended Posts

As above peeps, after reading about track setups and peoples posts it seems the 309 GTI beam works well with 'generic' lowering springs, now im having trouble finding some ZX16v/Volcane rear arms so how good a combo would 40mm lowering springs on black billies with a 309GTI beam (stock) with gti-6 dampers? Do the ZX arms make that much difference? the car is primarily a track car, so would the -40's be ok? Opinions on PI in general?

Also i plan to use grp n top mounts so do these raise the front end slightly? thats really why ive gone for -40's to keep the drop to around mid 30's.

Thanks guys.

Should work fine - that's roughly the setup I used to run many moons ago, just with Koni springs (I'm sure the spring rate is similar though) and boggo 205 GTi dampers. Certainly it was well balanced and worked well enough on both road and track.

A stock ride height 309 GTi beam with lowered springs will sit like a dragster.

I had this set up on my white GTi when I first fitted a 309 beam & it was good for road use but the back sat noticeably higher than th front. :)

Yeah, my description is a little misleading; i'll lower it i just wondered if it was worth persuing the ZX arms when i rebuild as im struggling to find a decent pair.

Is it worth the wait? or will a 'stock' 309 beam be ok?
