Brake Hoses

Hi,

I was browsing through spiky's project topic and I cam accross this brake hose "kit" he has assembled:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0603/spi.../205/brakes.jpg

It seems that the prices of rallydesign have gone a little up, but this set still makes 97 pounds, which I think is worth it compared to 60pounds for a set of flexi hoses...and as I'm going to be running the piper through the car (it is a hillclimb car) the pre-assembled brake hose kits they sell probably won't fit my setup.

However, I do not know what are all the componenets, can someone please enlighten me and provide me with some assembly instructions?

1. 90° Elbow Female swivel concave seat hose fitting - (M10 x 1) http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/images/RD1550.jpg

This goes on the caliper and the hose is attached to it right?

How exactly does it attach to the hose?

2. Hose Fitting M10 x 1 to M10 x 1 male/male fitting - where do these go? http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/images/RD1533.jpg

First I though they were for the T-piece, but they are 4...

3. Copper washer, where do you put them - http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/images/RD1523.jpg

4. Male convex seat hose fitting - (M10 x 1) http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/images/RD1500.jpg

What is this and where does it go?

1. Yes these will go to the calipers, They attach to the hose via the 'olive' joint that unscrews from one end. Care is needed when fitting these to the hose in order to avoid incorect fitting and leaking!

2. These go in the calipers so that the 90 degree joint can attach to them.

3. Under the male M10 x 1 parts to seal them.

4. Go into the three way peice and the master cylinder in order for them to attach to the hose, these have the same 'olive' joints as mentioned before.

I see. Thanks a lot.

Is there a reason not to use "Male convex seat hose fitting - (M10 x 1)" directly on the calipers, instead of the "90° Elbow..." + "Hose Fitting M10 x 1 to M10 x 1 male/male fitting" setup?

Will make the instalation better so you can angle the pipe towards the strut to keep it away from damage easier.
