smokey 0 Posted January 31, 2008 Hiya guys I struggling to decide whether to get my CTI sprayed in the original silver it was or go for something different? I do have some very nice Black Gunmetal Candy Pearl paint, but not too sure if it will look too much for it!! The paint work on my CTI is very poor and there is no lacquer so its hard to tell how it would have looked originally. Luckily my dad is a Paint Sprayer so i can do whatever i want really. Also when its done i will get pictures up, He's been doing industrial on site paint spraying for the last 20 years. Hes recently started to do cars on his own so if your looking to get your car done very reasonably and you like the work hes done on mine let me know. Paintguy 0 Posted February 2, 2008 Silver! I had the same dilemma when I painted mine. Since I do it for a living, I could have painted it just about any colour under the sun, but this forum persuaded me to stick with the original colour, and with hindsight I'm really glad that I did. Although I'm still considering a pink to purple fade...... JOKE!
Henry Yorke 269 3 Cars Posted February 2, 2008 Silver is a nice colour and it means that the engine bay and door shuts etc all match. I resprayed mine in the same colour. It makes life so much easier! If you want to do something slightly special, do what Paintguy did and put a bit of extra metal flake in the silver mix so it is standard silver but sparkles just a bit more than usual

smokey 0 Posted February 2, 2008 Fit a carpet!!! I am lol Going to get some new sound proofing and carpet. Just wondering after I've tackled the rust and killed what i cant remove, if i should paint it? A few of my friends have said hammerite, but i wonder if that would "ruin" the car

If you want to do something slightly special, do what Paintguy did and put a bit of extra metal flake in the silver mix so it is standard silver but sparkles just a bit more than usual Ive just done this to my wheels. I used a fine silver metal flake from a guy who ive used 3 times now without any problems. He sells all sorts of colours and hologram flakes too. Pm me and i'll pass you on his e-mail adresss. Another option would be to use peugeots 'EZR' gris aluminium. You find it on 307s and 206s. Failing that VWs satin silver has a nice blue/gold pearl in it. Reflex silver from the MK4 golfs nice too. Honda satin silvers sparkley too . Ill stop now, i could go on all day. If you go silver on the body? do your wheels in your gun metal. Maybe?
smokey 0 Posted March 12, 2008 Thanks for the tips craig. I've had a search around and found some cars in Satin Silver. Its quite nice. In this picture the front bumper is in Reflex Silver. The picture is dark but you can see the difference. Think i might go for the Satin Silver
