Can I Shorten The 309 Torsion And Arb Bars To Fit A 205 Beam?

Recommended Posts

JamesLumley

As above, I have a set of Std bars from a 309 beam sitting in the garage from where I've upgraded the rally car beam.

Can these be modified to fit the 205 beam and if so who can do it?

Cheers James

You can't if the splines are larger than the bar itself, which certainly rules out the TB's and I think the ARB too

22 and 24mm 306/ZX/Xsara ARB's can be shorterned to 205 or 309 length though.

They're cut to the correct length and re-splined so they fit exactly as per the standard one.

22mm is a good choice for a fairly standard road car, and 24mm works well as for fast-road and track use - particularly in conjuction with other typical suspension mods (ie lowering springs, uprated dampers etc)

In addition to modifying 306 ARB's to fit 205/309's, 205Parts can make both torsion and anti-roll bars from the correct grade/finish of steel in any size you want - there's more info in the "Group Buys and Discounts" section
