Any Tips For Crankshaft Sprocket Removal?

Recommended Posts

ChrisG

In short one of the bottom cambelt pulley bolts has sheared off and won't drill out so want to remove the whole sprocket :(

Problem is my engine is on a stand with the head removed and the liners clamped in place. The flywheel is removed and obviously when I try to undo the nut the engine just turns over :D

Anyone got any tips as to how to lock the bottom end up so I can undo the nut?????

2 flywheel bolts in the flywheel end and a big lever bar through them to stop the crank from moving, then ideally use a impact gun to rattle the bolt out. failing that you'll need a second person to hold the crank still whist you undo the main bolt.

Cheers mate that was spot on, took no time at all :P Swapped with the sproket off my spare engine in about 15 mins :)
