Mi16 Injectors Not Getting Any Power

Recommended Posts

yorkshirekowboy

hello all again :)

getting sick of this engine converstion to my 205 now.

right everyhting seems to be working fine apart from i cant get her started as there isnt any power i dont think getting to the injectors or fuel pump.

the brown relay does click, the green i have never heard t click ever, plus i have tried a different relay for the green and still no joy. also near the relays is a two pin mulitplug and its not connected, is that meant to be connected?

i have hard wired the fuel pump straight to the battery and it turns and pumps fuel, but no fuel getting to the sparks at all, making it be the injectors.

not sure what to do now, so any help would be good.

oh its from a 405mi16x4.

thanks

danny

Have you tried another crank sensor? We had a similar problem and changing the cps solved it.

thats what i thought but i get a spark... so thinking it cant be crank sensor.

 i think you could possibly take of the fuel rail complete with injectors and see if the injectors fire when cranking? obviously have the injectors squirting into jars.. I'm sure i've read someone do this in here?

Not sure how to test injectors for power

2 pin multiplug I believe is for the ECU code reader.

Check the fuses on both the relays.

Have you checked to see if fuel is coming to the injectiors by disconnecting the hose to the fuel rail? if not double check that the fuel in and return are connected up correctly.

Have a look at this thread, Mi donor for my conversion which I couldnt start.

Ive got this to come after Ive finished the engine and gearbox recon!

ive checked all the above, it seems my spark someimes isnt there aswell somayeb thinking its time for a new crank sensor. just finding a cheap good one, if there such thing.

Normally on the Mi16 engine loom, the fuel pump doesn't "prime" on ignition on, if that makes any difference for you. It should do on cranking though.

When the cps on the mi i was talking about above was duff it would still work but not all the time.

I made a mistake yesterday (although I wouldn't normally admit it). I connected the crank angle sensor to the TPS connector, and of course vice versa. They look the same and easy to do! You won't get any power to the injectors until an input pulse is detected. But if you're getting spark that eliminates that one.

how can you tell the difference, the crank one its connected to the one nearest the end of the loom????, and at the top of my head i think the wire colors are red, black and maybe earth. that i have connected to it.

also mulitiplug thats connected to the the throttle sensor, the wires are both blue?

so in other words the red being plus, balck being ve- which of the two sensors (crank or throttle) need them feeds?

cheers

as said, if you always get a spark then your crank sensor is wired up and working correctly. CAS has three wires btw,

while TPS is just a switch so there's no need for more than two anyway.

on the other hand, the green and brown relays are fuel pump and injector relays, so even if you hard-wire the pump,

the injectors won't be injecting it in the engine as they need to get +12v and then then ECU provides them with earth

to fire them during cranking/running.

check all the fuses again and also if you have +12v at the injectors.

hope this helps.

right a update, got injectors working now, but still not the pump, hardwired that, and the engines nearly starts, well it kicks, but it seems to drian my battery really quickly, but battery seems ok, and theres fuel to spark plugs etc

not sure why, but thinking mayeb starter not fast enough?
