smokey 0 Posted January 22, 2008 Hey guys Well i've just got round to getting some pictures of my new CTI. It's not in a too bad condition considering the age. Heres a few pictures of it Now for the not so good bits Worst bit found so far Luckily my flatmate is a good welder so some of these will be cut out and plates will be welded in and smoothed. Not too sure what to do with the door though! Looking forward to cleaning this up to look like new
Paintguy 0 Posted January 22, 2008 Like you say, it looks in good nick considering its age Be careful when welding the bit under the back seat, as the (plastic) fuel tank is right under there, and one of the brake pipes too if I remember rightly. Apparently the crack on the door is pretty common on the CTI too, should weld up ok. Good luck with it, and keep us up to date with pictures
chris1986 1 Posted January 22, 2008 my g reg has started to bubble there on the floor so i'd best treat it before it gets worse. cars looking pretty good from the pictures, hope its not costing as much as my new one to get road worthy.
steve@cornwall 100 Posted January 22, 2008 (edited) Looks good - Best colour, too. Some of your missing bits are not easy to come by (rear window seal, pininfarina badge, Ph1 ashtray) Want me to look some out? --- door seals are like hen's teeth in good nick, though :( Edited January 22, 2008 by steve@cornwall
smokey 0 Posted January 22, 2008 Thanks guys Didn't realise the fuel tank was plastic, will make sure i remove that first!! Any idea what to do with the door? Rust kill then weld the crack? I'm thinking of changing the dash to a phase 2 one. Steve if you could find some that would be great!!! Allot of them have shrunk but i'm going to try the hot water and stretching method. stevie67cars 0 Posted January 23, 2008 (edited) On the subject of window seals.....Sorry if this has been covered loads before- does anyone know if the window seals for a cti are available anywhere other than a Peugeot dealership? I priced them before and I think they were working out around £300 or so and I cant even remember if that was for all four!! I like to think I keep my car in pretty good nick, but the window seals are all shrunk on both the doors and 1/4 panels. On the drivers door, it has shrunk so much that it pulls off when raising the door glass unless you hold in on. They really let the car down and I would buy a full set if they were reasonabally priced. I dont see the point in buying second hand ones unless I know they are perfect. Here is my cti- you cant really see the seal problem in this pic though. Cheers for your help Stephen Edited January 23, 2008 by stevie67cars
smokey 0 Posted January 24, 2008 Stephen Someone on here mentioned soaking them in hot water then stretching them out. By standing on one end and pulling the other. Might be worth a try.
vern 0 Posted January 24, 2008 I did the heat method to stretch the rubbers, and I broke the rubber, they are quite brittle and do not stretch that much. As far as I know they are only availale from Peugeot, or find some one who is breaking one.
Pob 1 Posted January 24, 2008 Be careful when welding the bit under the back seat, as the (plastic) fuel tank is right under there, and one of the brake pipes too if I remember rightly. Why does it rust there? Mines got a little spot developing, seen a few in that area with the same problem. Thanks, Dan
