309PUG 2 1 Cars Posted January 22, 2008 i've a be1 1.6 box with quaife diff what oil? Total Transmission BV 75w-80 good stuff and cheap. Chris
saveloy 8 Posted January 23, 2008 Morris fully synthetic 75w/80. A better choice. 1.7 litres will do.
Spiky 37 Posted January 23, 2008 cheers both, will sort this out tomorrow, as it's something i have forgotten about getting

welshpug 1,657 Posted January 23, 2008 got mine from Fastparts Spiky, bit far for you though. any decent motor factors should have it, one thing I would check first though it what quaiffe recommends, I know that Tranx specify a different oil to the manufacturer spec 75w80

saveloy 8 Posted January 23, 2008 I also use a Quaife diff. They recommend and stock Silkolene products. But, they have no issue with Morris, redline and a few others.

Normski 1 Posted January 23, 2008 ok cheers, so as long as i use one of those makes with 75w80, i should be fine?thanks again Yes, any mineral or semi-syth gear oil in that weight will be just fine. It's not like with a plate diff that needs a specific oil.
shine 0 Posted January 24, 2008 I would recomend Total BV. I think the Be boxes perform better with these oil than most others in same thikness. Seems like the syncromesh alows faster changes and less wear. I have tired different 75-80 oils during last summers. Have been running Quaife ATB in this period. Enjoy the new diff! Spiky 37 Posted January 25, 2008 well i just been to all the motoro factors around me and the only place that sells 75-80 is halfords and it's their own brand, so not touching that where online can i get some?

SPGTi 2 Posted January 25, 2008 Total BV available from German Swedish and French. I presume a Total petrol station would also sell it. Steve
Spiky 37 Posted January 25, 2008 well will try the two petrol stations near me, if not will go to GSF
jim205GTI 3 Posted January 25, 2008 Tried a peugeot or citroen dealer? surely they would sell it? ... never know the price might be good
mogsman 2 Posted January 26, 2008 Got mine from the Citroen dealers, Pug would probably sell it also. Ian
welshpug 1,657 Posted January 26, 2008 (edited) IIRC GSF do stock total, if not it'll be morris or Fuchs, Fastparts isnt far from Newbridge, down the valley in Abercarn but I dont think they sell Total, just your normal off the shelf stuff, I live another mile or so down the valley in Cwmcarn. Just had another thought too, if you're set on total lube try Bijou garage in Cwmcarn, they use Total oils. Edited January 26, 2008 by welshpug
Spiky 37 Posted November 26, 2008 sorry to drag this back up need new oil again can i assume ANY of these will be fine???? Oil mans website
welshpug 1,657 Posted November 26, 2008 yeah they're all the right spec, bit expensive though, and you'll need 2 bottles. you can get 2 litres for less than half that from a Peugeot/Citroen dealer.
Spiky 37 Posted November 26, 2008 maybe i'll ring my local one then, i bet they wont stock what i want..lol
welshpug 1,657 Posted November 26, 2008 They'll have gallons of the stuff in the workshop mate, box oil usually in 45 gallon drums, I think my local specialist keeps 50 litres minimum in stock. pop along to the Pug/Citroen workshop with a suitable container and see one of the fitters
