Recommended Posts

was there a time during production that they went from one to the other? Or did some have Bendix and some have Girling Callipers?

Hi,

I have spoken to a guy who used to work the line at Ryton and he said that it was just a matter of what was in the track side bins during changeover.

For example my 91 1.6 has girling rears and Bendix calipers.(confuses PUG and GSF no end!)

regards

Dave

In almost all cases, 1.6's have Bendix and 1.9's have Girling front calipers.

Most of the 1.6 GTi's (if not all) have had Girling drum brakes. I've only found one 205 in a scrapyard that had Bendix rear brake & that wasn't a GTi (D Turbo iirc).

Graham.
