MrG 3 Posted January 22, 2008 was there a time during production that they went from one to the other? Or did some have Bendix and some have Girling Callipers?
dch1950 37 1 Cars Posted January 22, 2008 Hi, I have spoken to a guy who used to work the line at Ryton and he said that it was just a matter of what was in the track side bins during changeover. For example my 91 1.6 has girling rears and Bendix calipers.(confuses PUG and GSF no end!) regards Dave

Anthony 1,003 Posted January 22, 2008 In almost all cases, 1.6's have Bendix and 1.9's have Girling front calipers.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted January 22, 2008 For example my 91 1.6 has girling rears and Bendix calipers.(confuses PUG and GSF no end!) Most of the 1.6 GTi's (if not all) have had Girling drum brakes. I've only found one 205 in a scrapyard that had Bendix rear brake & that wasn't a GTi (D Turbo iirc). Graham.
