Boil the kettle and poor it over that minging sticker to get it off.

Buy some AutoGlym Black Dye (aerosol) either remove all the trim and bumpers to spray them black or spray some in the cap and rub it on with a rag.

When finished go over all the trim again with AutoGlym bumper care (green liquid) to buff it up for a lasting shine.

Trust me this works!

See how much the bodywork shines up with some t-cut and polish

Black the tyres up clean the interior. (Jet wash the red carpet if you have the time to remove it)

Put it back on ebay, depending how good it looks it could fetch up to £700

Does this work then?

Not heard that one before.

I presume it all stays in one piece!

Looks like a carb XU airbox to me, or a least the last one I saw on an automatic carb had one that had that rubber band around it.

Got 1 side of the hideous graphic off

Kit and bumpers will be sprayed satin black

T-cut and polish is a given!

I need to paint the tailgate as it's a later base model smooth one, although the black panel, badges and spoiler are in the boot :D

So I may as well do the lacquer problem on the roof, too

Carpet is unmarked :D

It needs an o/s driveshaft, but I have a good 1.6 one from when I upgraded mine to 1.9

The bonnet has a crease - I have a straight one in graphite from my old cti :D

Fit standard induction (or there,s a k&n in the boot :)

Also in the boot are a pair of gen.pug "gti" mudflaps and a parcel shelf with sony 6X9s and an uncut shelf, too! and a rust and dent free drivers door in primer

Today I've changed the lockset as the ignition was drilled..... And the loom from the ig. barrel as it wasn't switching the starter motor - all fine now and on 1 key. It's good to be able to lock it up - oh and put on a pair of purely decorative "hella" driving lamps that have been littering the garage

It will probably go back on ebay, and I'll look for another one to break as this one is too good.

Should I remove the tow-bar?

Ps- IMO its worth more like 350 - 450 , but prices on ebay seem pretty daft at the moment

Give it a SERIOUSLY good polish, stick a proper GTi boot on Graphite on it, get all the trim black, sort the driveshaft, remove the towbar then write a decent advert for it on Pistonheads with some high quality pictures. You could get the good side of £500 for it easily. This is from experience btw

use black Dye rather than paint.

It doesn't crack or flake off like paint can!

Definitely take the tow bar off!

Any time Dan!

Pulled the other graphic off today OH F**K :)

Better order some more paint....

post-7883-1201099697_thumb.jpg

I guess I'll have to strip that dodgy paint right back, but at least I don't have to decide where to blend in the paint from the roof now

And seeing as the car is not messed with (no Ph2 upgrades etc. ) I think I should refinish the kit in grey on second thoughts (Dying seems a better way than paint, cheers, Alex)

Told you to use the kettle.

The glue gose all soft and peels of without damaging the paint! :)

BTW buy this

If you get any on the paintwork it comes off with turps without damaging the paint.

then buff them up with this

I used the f'ing kettle - I think the panel was painted without keying the primer. At least it's funny on a really cheap car
