Removing Oil From Seats

Recommended Posts

Rob Thomson

Just before my 205's MOT expired back in July I had a bottle of oil spill itself in the boot. I took the back seats out last night and wasn't surprised to find that the undersides of the seats are nicely soaked with oil. The foam doesn't seem to have been affected but the fabric's dripping wet.

Any idea how I can get the oil out of the covers? I would just wang 'em in the washing machine with some Aerial Ultra but I don't want oily clothes for the next three months...

Thanks.

Try some swafega,I've used this before (although not on pug seats) on greasy/oily marks on floor mats. as they always say try it in a place you cant see first,a wet vac/shop vac would also help.

Soak up as much as possible with kitchen towel then soak them and use anything you can lay your hands on - Vanish, Fairy liquid, washing powder etc - and then maybe use a wet vac or a steam cleaner on it.

I'm not too sure about sticking them in the washing machine. If nothing else I'd be worried about lingering oil smells as a result.

My other half didn't notice - just make sure your clothes are the first load in afterwards.........a 205 owner with a fragrance of oil is not THAT unusual, surely :D
