I'v never thought that drilling discs was entirely nessacary, it's just weakaning the disc and adding lots of places where cracks could form. You'd be better off getting some ATE powerdiscs

ATE powerdiscs are expensive and grooved, which is worse grooves ,dimples, or holes ? :D

well you can get a bit of pedal vibration with groved discs, but it's better than a drilled disc that is more likely to crack in my oppinion

drilled disks really are not needed anymore as pads dont produce gases like they used to 20 years ago. All you will do is weaken the disk

Didn't you say your disks were 50 quid? I'm pretty sure ATE powerdisks are cheaper than that.

Right, sound advice all of it.

Seeing as I have made up a template for drilling 15 holes in the disc (and very accurate it is too) I,m going to drill dimples in them because they look racey :D and I wont have been wasting my time with the calipers and protractor and jig saw etc..

Thanks.

Drilled my 307 brakes. Raced them for a whole season. No craks at all.

About 40 holes in each disc. Works fine on the track!

My 5 p.

OOHHH, that'll rattle the cages of the "you should always wear a crash hat on a mountain bike" brigade. :D Your discs will break up and you will die :)
