sutol 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Going to drill my own discs How many holes you think or should I dimple or both ?
swordfish210 20 Posted January 16, 2008 I'v never thought that drilling discs was entirely nessacary, it's just weakaning the disc and adding lots of places where cracks could form. You'd be better off getting some ATE powerdiscs

swordfish210 20 Posted January 16, 2008 well you can get a bit of pedal vibration with groved discs, but it's better than a drilled disc that is more likely to crack in my oppinion
Batfink 201 Posted January 16, 2008 drilled disks really are not needed anymore as pads dont produce gases like they used to 20 years ago. All you will do is weaken the disk
GLPoomobile 958 Posted January 16, 2008 Didn't you say your disks were 50 quid? I'm pretty sure ATE powerdisks are cheaper than that.

sutol 0 Posted January 16, 2008 I would NOT get drilled disks as a mate of mine hade them and within a month he had cracks coming frim the holes. Right, sound advice all of it. Seeing as I have made up a template for drilling 15 holes in the disc (and very accurate it is too) I,m going to drill dimples in them because they look racey and I wont have been wasting my time with the calipers and protractor and jig saw etc.. Thanks.

mmt 15 Posted January 21, 2008 Drilled my 307 brakes. Raced them for a whole season. No craks at all. About 40 holes in each disc. Works fine on the track! My 5 p. /Martin

Your discs will break up and you will die
