Martin W 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I'm taking out the bonnet skin (doesn't need to be re-used) but what is the easiest way to remove the spot welds holding the internal strengthening on? The rest looks easy as its just glues on. Thanks.
welshpug 1,666 Posted January 14, 2008 a suitably sized drill does the trick, on stronger parts a cold chisel would do the trick but the bonnet is quite a flimsy item when deconstructed
Martin W 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I'd rather use a drill as a last resort to avoid it leaving a hold. I did think of a chisel but wasn't sure if that would work. An Angle grinder was the alternalive!
swordfish210 20 Posted January 14, 2008 You can buy spot weld dril bits thet do the job a treat, that and a good light hammer and a sharp cold chisel is all you're going to need
Popshot 0 Posted January 14, 2008 FART - Frost Auto Restoration Techniques sell a specific drill bit for the job. It acts like a small hole saw to cut around the weld. http://www.frost.co.uk/item_Detail.asp?pro...tSubcat=Cutting
