1905cc gti engine never had 130 bhp, it was 128 bhp.

unless is was a late engine on Motronic (i.e with a cat) or from an Auto it'll be the 128 BHP version.

no, IIRC there are 2 128 bhp engines, not much difference between them though, then there's the 122bhp engine and the 105 bhp engine.

most 1.9's are the D6B engine IIRC.

and that's before looking at the 1.9 in any other PSA car!

As said there's loads of differance's and you never know if it wasn't changed in the past, But on the top of the engine there should be a TAG with the code on, ie. D6B, The XU9 bit is another code not used on the engine

if it doesn't have this you should see the date stamp on the head (Back of) this if older than late 92 should be the 128bhp engine provding it has the Short sump fitted

Why not its most reliable one I have owned, and have personally covered 87k in three years driving to from Belgium and now covered 166k total... Not the best BHP but still runs sweet.! What makes a good GTI for you? for myself it is my D reg 1.6 in white?

1 Best colour

2 The original GTI what scared zee germans vw's
