bluespanner 0 Posted January 12, 2008 On the motorway tonight the 205 has developed a horrible vibration, from about 55mph when you put your foot down. and it gets worse until you dare not go faster. The vibe is accompanied by a brrrrrrrrr sound... Any thoughts? Cheers, Roly.
richard 0 Posted January 12, 2008 Any noises from the brakes when braking, or reversing and braking? Does the car feel vague when driving? does the vibration get worse when going round corners?
steendp 0 Posted January 12, 2008 I have the same problem and will be changing the right driveshaft to see if the solves the problem.
ginjaspeed 0 Posted January 13, 2008 I had a simular problem on my 1.6 gti, turned out to be the inner CV on the right hand shaft.
pike_1.9cti 0 Posted January 13, 2008 Sorry to hijack, but i have the problem of clunking noise from brakes when reversing (as richard said). What could this be? Oh an it is a 1.6 cti brake set up with tarox discs and green stuffs. Any help appreciated. :-)
Banjo 1 Posted January 13, 2008 A clunk from the brakes when reversing is worn sliders. The vibes at 55 could be driveshaft/wheel bearing/wheel balance, most probly a cv.
McPikie 0 Posted January 14, 2008 I get this, going to get all wheels balanced and new driveshaft Also get a "scraping" noise first thing in morning when car been stood over night
Banjo 1 Posted January 15, 2008 Thats the pad clearing the surface rust on the disc
richard 0 Posted January 16, 2008 Thats the pad clearing the surface rust on the disc getting way OT here, but mcpikie, that sounds more like a sticking piston. Rust doesnt appear that quickly on brake discs....
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted January 16, 2008 I disagree, maybe not visible rust but there will be some slight corrosion especially if it is wet/cold/salty as it is at the moment. My Audi makes a slight scrape the first time the brakes are applied in the morning when reversing off the drive, after that its fine and doesn't make any other untoward noises.
