Dan Ingram 1 Posted January 9, 2008 I was just wondering what the reasons for mounting a battery in the boot are? I know its often done to create more space in the engine bay but are there any other reasons for it?

westy 0 Posted January 10, 2008 While the topic's here - how hard is it to do?Is it just a case of extending the cables through the bulkhead and underneath the carpet?
Blish10 0 Posted January 10, 2008 While the topic's here - how hard is it to do?Is it just a case of extending the cables through the bulkhead and underneath the carpet? Yeah thats all I did. Insulated them with thick rubber tubing to stop rubbage. Welded a tray into the boot and that was it
kate205gti 4 Posted January 10, 2008 im doing mine in the next few weeks any ideas wheres the best place for the cable and cut off switch?
Baz 421 Posted January 10, 2008 In a box, because it makes sense, ever seen a battery go pop? Also because competition regulations say they have to be in a box/nehind a bulkhead etc. Cable through the car and P-clipped would be ok for a car like yours Kate. Cut off switch inside? On the dash somewhere?? Or if you mean an exterior cut-off switch then on/beneath the scuttle panel's usually a good spot.
