How To Get Clutch Arm And Spindle Apart!

Recommended Posts

elrikos

Hey guys,

i've managed to break my clutch arm (the bit that attaches to the clutch cable and release bearing). Anyway i've got the box off and i'm having trouble seperating the arm portion from the spindle bit. I see theres a threaded bolt holding it together but it has no head, just a stumpy blob on the end. I've tried the trick of windong 2 nuts onto it and locking them off on each other but with no success (just stripped the thread).

Is there any way of getting them apart without resorting to the angle grinder???

Thanks

Rich

I had the same problem, it was rusty and seized in the arm so I ended up drilling it out and just ordered a new one from Peugeot, they had it in stock along with both of the bushes for the fork shaft,

heat and careful tapping, or drill it out.

just dont use a large hammer as you can crack the bellhousing quite easily.

Use a gas torch to heat up the surrounding area but not the the bolt. Dizzy nuts do fit on the threaded part of the bolt just make sure the threads are not stripped, put some washers underneath the nut and tighten, so long as the surrounding area is hot and you have enough washers underneath the nut it will eventually come out.
