Kriss 0 Posted January 7, 2008 I've got a 1. injection as some of you, may know. Problem is, when you rev it, the seems to be abit of a delay and it judders a bit. It's also doing this when you change gears My two initial thoughts were the accelerator cable was maybe shtretched or the bottom engine mount wa fubar and causing exsess engein movement. Im now starting to wonder if it could me more to do with the throttle body side of things. Any other possible idea's???
DaveW 6 Posted January 7, 2008 Maybe need a fuel filter change?
KRISKARRERA 2 1 Cars Posted January 8, 2008 My Mi16 does that too, though it's not so bad to be really irritating. Most likely something electrical.
Kriss 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Maybe need a fuel filter change? Nope, i just serviced it 100 miles ago, even if that. It seems after taking it out a spirited drive last night, the problem is worst when the engines cold. Also discovered te lower engine mounts on it's way out and i'll need to save up for a set of miles gear rods
Tesstuff 222 Posted January 8, 2008 (edited) This is what happens to my old classic car, and you already have almost explained it yourself. The engine mount is giving play which allow the gearbox to move a little and 'pulls' it away from a component that affects the smooth running, producing the chugging, this movement might only be 2mm for example but its enough to make the component be at its limit of connection. When the engine warms up the metal expands closing the 2mm( for example) gap and makes it almost ok. I know which components it affected on my old car but i dont know which ones it will be on your car.Others no doubt will. Needless to say when i had new mounts fitted it cured it and the engine and gearbox was rock solid and all chugging stopped. Kriss 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Cheers for that Daz!!! I got told by one of my dads mate's (very expierienced mechanic) that it could be the ht leads. So got a new set of those to try out. Deffo going for the engine mount though!!
DaveW 6 Posted January 8, 2008 I got a very worn lower engine mount, you can hear it bang sometimes when shifting gear if you do it to hard.
Guest eddie 309 Posted January 10, 2008 id defo change the engine mount and give the tb a good clean with petrol or carb cleaner if thats doesnt cure ur problem then try a new throttle position sensor shuld see you alright cant be too serious
