Another Few 205 Gt6 Questions (winter Project)

Recommended Posts

shooter mcgavin

hi every1 spent the last few months searching for a cheap 205 as a winter project and today i got 1.

its a 1.9 lazor on a j reg with 135k and comes complete with wrecked front seats, head gasket and big ends.

the rest of the car is really clean and well looked after even had full dealer service at 129k.

i am breaking my phase1 gti6 track/road car only for the reason i love the 205's and good examples are getting harder to find without a huge price tag.

i have burnt out the search button on this site so decided i should join up.

ok

stripping the 306 on saterday and not totaly sure how much of the loom i need to take out and unsure of which fuel pump will be used

cheers in advance guys

did't want to just come in with my 1st post giving it "tell me how to do this and that" and get flammed for not searching.

cheers.

Hi mate, welcome to the forum. Im doing the same conversion in the next few weeks. You'll be using the standard 205 fuel pump. Loom wise you need everything from the two multiplugs to the engine (complete management loom). I think you should have 2 round multiplugs, a big one and a smaller one. You need to disconnect these from wherever they are in the 306 (there under the dash in the 205, probably around that area). It should look something like so:

The 306 looks a bit good to break from the pictures but each to their own!

Laser looks good

First off, make sure you unlock the ecu. (Start the car up - with the code entered) and with the car running dissconnet the ecu).

Then them 2 round plugs. You only need the big one anyway. But you want to pull the loom back that runs along the cross member and upto the dash. Cut it before it goes in the car. Thats where you need to join the 205+306 looms. That should give you more than enough cable length to route the loom how you want it around the 205 engine bay. Double check what does what with a multimeter through the 19 pin round plug.

And yes. theres no need to take the loom off the engine unless your painting it. Just makes life harder for yourself when identifying what everything does first time round.

You should end up with the two 205 brown multiplugs with say a meter of cable coming from them, you then join the wires coming from the multiplugs to the wires going into the 306 multiplugs that you chop off (as Alastair says)....

....I think anyway, look at my recent topic in the Aftermarket wiring section, there's a guide link in there for the Mi16, with similar principal in joining the two looms

Shooter there's a couple of threads called stuff like 'gti6 sensor identification' that have lists of what all the plugs are and a lot of pictures, it helped me get my head round the loom (well most of it )

had a look, is the loom that comes from the big round plug and into plastic trunking under the crossmember?

think i see what yous mean now, this gives you the extra lenght on the loom so you can get it through the bulk head and up to the brown multi plugs.
