Ethos 0 Posted December 31, 2007 Hi guys, Well the reverse light stopped working, took the cover off and yey the bulb has blown. Go to halfords to get another bulb thinking that would be it, fitted it but still no reverse light Any ideas? There's apparently something on the gearbox but I couldn't find it, could I have some more tips! Reverse light isn't part of an MOT is it? Thanks

Ethos 0 Posted December 31, 2007 There's a switch on the front of the gearbox that controls the reverse light: Thanks for that... can it be accessed from on top of the car or so I need to get underneath?
Tom Fenton 1,542 Posted December 31, 2007 Reverse light is not part of the MOT. On the gearbox near the clutch arm is a switch that screws in, with a 2 pin plug attached. Exactly what it looks like depends on the year of car. If you unplug the wiring, and bridge the 2 pins, the light should come on if everything else is as it should be. If this is the case then it suggests your reverse light switch is u/s.
