[project] Oh S#it, My Project Topic!

Recommended Posts

Hi Dave

I stripped my shell down to bare metal recently. I used a heat gun everywhere and pulled the underseal and primer etc off in large sheets by hand, only needed to use a wire wheel on the orange seal areas. For the interior and any surface rust i used 3m Purple strip and clean disks on a grinder aswell as a heat gun on the sealant. The only area i would sandblast on yours is under the boot floor and around any of the seams where rust has been found.

Anyway I have the left front light panel you need, i bought it last year from peugeot but never used it - Pm me if your interested?

Keep up the hard work!

Marc

Update time?

 Well I'm in the process of welding, well kind of

Ive bought a rolling gentry shell off Sutol (thanks again) and been busy cutting it up, I'm using the front panel, cill and a section of the floor.

The problem I'm having is the cars upside down now and I cant get a welder to do the work, one guy pointed out a very important problem....

To weld the front panel on I need to have the wings and bonnet on to line up to..... To line the bonnet up I need the slam panel on which bolts to the front panel..... To put the wings on I need the cill on.... To put the cill on I need the door on... and to put the door it would be helpful if it wasn't upside down :( I just laugh otherwise I'll cry.

So my plan is to weld the bits underneath and paint what I can then flip her over for the rest. I just wanted to fit the front panel now so I can get all the welding done an get a good seal around the front arches before I got the paint out

So is there any way I can line it up upside down and get it near enough?

Or anyone wont to do some welding for me?

cheers

dave

 I know they don't weigh that much when stripped that bare, but that's pushing it!

So everywheres been por-15'd , etch primered , seam sealed then stone chipped ready for the top coat.

Im still using the xsara vts rear axle which ive had mounts made up to use the origional chassis holes now

And Colin Satchell has made me a complete rosejointed front end with tubular wishbones etc

Once I get my arse into gear and finish painting it can go for a setup and have the engine mapped etc

Had to go through the centre of my local village (Bramhall) at 7:30 on a Friday night it was quite comical at the time :)

I wasnt given much notice to shift it

It was very riskey trying to lower it off the spit!!

Next step is to spray all the panels and trim, and by 2015 it should be done
