I have been looking online for some mintex pads, Xtreme or M1144, for my 205 1.4 bendix calipers (or maybe for the 1.6GTI calipers I've got lying around), thing is there seems to be 2 options for both types of calipers: the first are just listed for bendix, the second are listed for bendix with non symmetrical pads. The assymetrical pads don't sit level with each other as you look at them in the caliper - one sits slightly below the other, depending upon the calipers you have. After searching, I can't seem to find any definite info on what dictates whether a Bendix 1.6 GTi caliper takes symmetrical or assymetrical pads. Atreides 2 Posted December 29, 2007 Sorry Rippthrough, I should have made myself more clear; I know there's a difference between the pad shapes, but rather I need to know what dictates whether I need the symmetrical or asymmetrical pads for a certain caliper? Does model-year matter? Or is it whether the car was originally fitted with vented or solid discs? Sorry to thread-jack Kanye....I'll post a new thread if you'd prefer . Is it possible that both types fit the calipers but that the assymetrical or offset pads are supposed to offer some kind of advantage? The pads for sale from Peugeot via the parts portal are listed as offset for all injection models and offset for base models with a servo, (post 91). I've got offset pads on my 1.6 GTI calipers, not sure about the base models one yet as I have yet to whip the wheel off. The 1.6 GTi was fitted with Bendix front calipers, which ALL take the non-symmetrical (offset) pads. Most base models (notice I said most) were fitted with Girling calipers, which take the symmetrical pads. However, it's important to note that this Girling setup is DIFFERENT to the Girlings on the 1.9 GTi, which take a different pad altogether.
