boldy205 75 Posted December 28, 2007 Just that really, will 5 door seat runners fit to my 3 door GTi? Anyone ever tried?
yeti-dj 7 Posted December 28, 2007 Hello, yes they will its just a straight swap. They sit a good bit lower and seem to travel back further as well, useful if your tall and have a sun roof like myself. Obviously you loose the tilt function so makes the back seats a bit useless. Hope this helps..
boldy205 75 Posted December 28, 2007 Perfect! thanks for the reply, this is just what in after as im fitting buckets and would like them lower as i too am quite tall. Not to worry about the rear seats, there isn't any! Just wondering how much lower are the ruunners? We talking 10mm 15mm lower? I realise i can take the plastic spacers out too, should help! sonofsam 5 Posted December 29, 2007 (edited) Just that really, will 5 door seat runners fit to my 3 door GTi? Anyone ever tried? Thats crazy! I was going to ask this question, today! Thanks for doing it for me and the answers of course! plenty of 5dr's in my local breakers, but hardly ever a 3dr, so it's good news alround Im getting rid of buckets and going back to standard seats/belts Im assuming 5dr front belts are the same as 3dr? boldy205 75 Posted December 31, 2007 not sure a bout the belts being the same. I have a feeling they are not. But the subframes fit a treat and my buckets now sit slightly lower than my standard seat!! Sonofsam: What type of harness did you have 3point etc..? Adn where did you mount them? Thanks Matt
Atari Boy 11 Posted January 1, 2008 I use a 5 door runner as I too need the headroom. Keep the side plastic bit from the 3 door runner though as I think it fitted better thsn the 5 door one. If you want to go super low then you can grind off the metal spacers on the 5 door set up. I total I can gained about 2 inches I think, that is with a 5 door runnwer and loosing the metal spacers. I think there is a good guide on the main website.
