wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted December 24, 2007 Ok so havin just collected my new race 205 (no engine thou) just checkin the exhausy system and i thought it was a standard system, it probbaly is but ive not seen or heard of this before. It retains the standard manifold, but then the downpipe is split into 2 pipes from the one connecting joint to the mainfold so in theory its a 4 - 1 - 2 - 1 if you know what i mean!? Am i making sense or have i lost everyone, is this just a later year downpipe as fitted standard or not?!?! thanx simon
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 24, 2007 sounds like a standard pug downpipe, 4-2-1. that type is fitted to most peugeot XU's in some form or another bar the GTi6.
wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted December 24, 2007 ah rite cause ive only ever seen the 4:1 system, so the downpipe is just one pipe and not split into 2!! not sure whether to change for a magnex 4:2:1 mani and downpipe, ill be runnin 45 DCOE;s and a strong Rally Catcam with a good head skim so thinkin the magnex would be better for me
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 24, 2007 ummm, I always thought the magnex was a 4-1 Most pug manifolds are split 4-2 then a 2-1 downpipe, keeps the torque up on a standard or mildly modified engine, flow well enough for 160 odd bhp.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 24, 2007 Sounds like the Moongoose (I think) downpipe or some std pattern companies made them too, Which instead of having a internal split they had a 4-2-1 abit the 2 part being hidden downpipe, Only the real cheap pattern ones never had the centre split in them. The Magnex is a 4-1 made from Stainless steel
jonnie205 1 Posted December 24, 2007 yep thats a mongoose, seen a few of them
wardy18 33 1 Cars Posted December 25, 2007 ah rite right yeh the magnex is a 4-1 yeh this pipe has the spilt in the middle and then branches into 2 pipes so yeh its a 4:2:1 if you had a magnex 4:1 stainless steel mani and you also had this 4:2:1 standard set up, which would you use?!? as said above ill be running 45 dcoe's with a strong rally Catcam and decent Skim (thats for this season, next season its having a a BV head with a 2.2 conversion so will definitely go with the magnex) but what to do this year to best suit my set up the rest of the system is stainless 2 1/4 inch tubing with a centre cherry bomb silencer, havent decided whether to run teh rear cherry bomb silencer too yet, depends how loud it is but we have no goverened regs for that over here what u reckon?! jackherer 543 Posted December 25, 2007 I've got one of those twin tube mongoose downpipes, I've had it for ages and it performs just as well as a standard pipe with a split but with the benefit of being made from stainless steel so it won't rust and block up internally. It also didn't need cutting and rewelding to fit my Mi16 manifold even though I had to modify the standard downpipe I had previously.
