Hardcharging 0 Posted December 23, 2007 I am about to start with the rebuild of my Mi. From the bottom up. As the crank is well shot. I have an Omex set up that was on a previous project that I want to use on the Mi. So I was wondering how far to go with the "spec of the rebuild. The car will be used as a tarmac stage rally car. Plans at the mo are to build a strong bottom end with "big" oil pressure, ARP bolts and a trap door sump My budget is limited at the moment but there will be tb's added at some point. Questions being :- Will I be able to run standard inlet ? ( with uprated injectors) Does the AFM get binned ? What output can be expected with or without a mildly modded head ? Should I consider a "re-ground cam" I'm sure I will add to this as things progress. Ta.

Ta. yes usually yes unsure of this, usually more torque and drivability gained rather than outright power. Mi16 heads are VERY good already, so you won't find any decent gains at moderate power levels. yes, Peter Taylor (petert) does regrinds with good results., Catcams do an inlet only cam though I dont know if they do regrinds. hope that helps
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 23, 2007 I would think about getting a GTi6 Inlet manifold as this in theory should give some good gains On a std 8v I gained 12bhp from fitting a mapable ECU but the mi has maped ignition so I;d say anything upto that in std form but it will run allot better as there's no AFM or Dizy to play up
Hardcharging 0 Posted December 24, 2007 Is there much to be gained by fitting some budget bike carbs or bike boddies ? Which is the prefered model or cc bike to get them from ?
Dream Weaver 2 Posted December 24, 2007 On std induction my engine was circa 180bhp and after adding the bike bodies and ECU it went up to 199bhp so pretty good gains - I could get more than that with verniers and better timing but I'm thinking of going back to std induction as I dont really need the whole mappable ECU thing. I used GSXR750 bodies and std injectors.
