Edp:he just redone mine this morning as the forks were slightly too short,i told him he should make more and i could sell them on but he would need a standard one to reuse the bush, which he trimmed the metal bit and pressed rubber back in so thats actually become harder like a group n also.

will have a word with him tho and if i could get standard old ones he could knock some up

Me too,Theres so much political Bull attached to working In a modern main dealer along with the fact they want you to work all the hours under the sun for what is after all a measly salary (For the amount of work you have to put in).

Little wonder so many people are leaving the trade and going after "Better careers",I had two days sick leave this year owing to a nasty stomach virus, just physically couldnt go to work and the sods docked my wages ,so much for being a valued member of staff !.

Hmm, even with group N mounts thats going to knock/rub quite horribly no?

its angled way clear of the head so not touching any metal,(as the engine is sat on a lower top mount) its only just touching on the left on the side of the plastic cam cover so hopefully wont be a problem. if i find out it does then ill make some adjustaments

You can space the pedal box out at the bottom where it bolts to the bulkhead that'll give the req'd clearance, either that or use a ZX top mount they are slightly shorter (Ie not so tall as they Gti ones) thus dropping the engine a fraction.

whizzer: i already have a couple of washers under the servo,i may add another tho just to be sure. its sat on a much shorter engine mount only about 50mm high i think and some washers to raise it up abit and a couple under the gearbox mout as i want it as level as possible and i havent tilted it very much

You can also space the bottom of the servo a fraction but wouldnt go too far otherwise it'll interfere with the action of the brake pedal,+ grind a little off the cam cover also,You might get away with inserting a bar between the cam cover and the bottom of the master cylinder and adjust it slightly,be VERY carefull tho as if you bend it too far you'll break the Vacuum tight seal between the master cylinder and the servo or even the master cylinder itself :D .

well, finally got some more done on the car, a friend has remade the exhaust system for me, its 2.25" steel straight through to a 3" magnex. i think it may be a little too loud but wont see until i get it started. i will probably end up putting a silencer in the middle. anyway the pics dont do it justice but here it is:

finally got it running earlier but no road test yet.

i broke the throttle cable holder on the tb and it has a fuel leak from the pipes on bulkhead.

already got another tb so will fitt it tommorrow if i get a chance(my birthday!) and ive used the fuel leak as an excuse to order some braided fuel line and run it through the car.

when i did start it it purred like a kitten, well more like a sabortooth tiger really. the straight through exhaust system isnt that loud  but its got a bite to it, i imagine under load its going to sound

now i just need to sort out some wiring and fix some temporaly bodges id done just so could get it running!
