kanyeost 0 Posted December 15, 2007 when i have my blower on full tilt it squeaks like a biatch not gonna bother trying to stop it as i thinks its the bearing so im going to replace it with a new one what sort of a task is it to replace?? are we talking 10mins or 10 hours i was going to buy a haynes manual but havent got round to it yet Mine squeaked like a bitch for four years until my mate sprayed some WD40 in it. I don't know if the fan is different on a GTI from a Rallye but if its the same it was easy to drop out from behind the centre console via the passenger footwell, just follow the squeak to find it. I'd try spraying before buying a new one... Mine's been sqeak free for 6 months now...

Mikey S 29 1 Cars Posted February 20, 2008 take the fan out, turn upside down and drill a hole smack in the middle and drop some light oil (gun oil is ideal) down the hole. leave for a few hours upside down then refit it. should cure it a treat. mike
