sutol 0 Posted December 14, 2007 I would say that the rubber pipes go to an oil cooler and the other two inlet and outlet on the body are for water. the bottom one is without oil cooler.
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 14, 2007 Both are heat exchanger's, Not cooler's which is the most commong mistake ever, The one with hoses is just the remote version fitted to all later 205's instead of the air oil cooler mount in the fan housing, The other one you have is either a Mi16 or 309 heat exchanger But both only have water in and out only, the remote one the pipes connect to the oil filter take off I'd ditch them as they are no real use and only some else to go wrong
welshpug 1,657 Posted December 14, 2007 the right hand one is also fitted to nearly all 1.9 TD's

Miles 331 1 Cars Posted December 15, 2007 If the remote one has it's fitting;s that is a saleable item, Or you can still use it with the exchanger part removed and it make's changing the filter very very easy
maxi 36 1 Cars Posted December 15, 2007 thanks miles ill take your advice and lob them! I wouldnt. The quickest way to kill a performance XU engine (mi16, etc) is for the oil temp to get too high. Alright they might only be heat exchanges/modines but the idea is the coolant and oil keep the temps at a consistant level and also no too high. If one fluid temp creeps up the idea is to disapate the heat into the other fluid. They do work to a certain extenet (why else would pug use them????) and I have noticed oil temps creeping up without them. Maxi
