DirtyFlare 0 Posted December 12, 2007 (edited) I'm going to make braided brake lines for my 1.6 gti, I'm just trying to work out exactly what connections I need. I have searched and found a good post on someone's rebuild, but its for a 1.9. The problem there is 1.9's have a cross-diagonal arrangement and 1.6's don't as only one line goes from the master cylinder to a tee piece Basically I'm asking if someone could list me the parts that I will need, including the thread size, and what they are for so that I can work it. or Draw a diagram explaining/labelling each part of the brake line from mc to brake Many thanx Edited December 12, 2007 by DirtyFlare
DirtyFlare 0 Posted December 12, 2007 I have now found this thread (bit of luck tbh) which shows this pic which is basically what I was after, but could someone please be kind enough to label the thread sizes for me?
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted December 12, 2007 Thread sizes all 10 x 1mm.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted December 13, 2007 That picture isn't right imo. The T splitter at the back on a 1.6 GTi is all females which is why the 1.6 GTi has a specific (different) braided hose for the aroound the beam on the NSR brake unlike the 1.9 GTi. Graham. Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted December 13, 2007 You are right Graham, but I think the O/P is planning to run the lines in aeroquip all the way through the car, hence probably not bothering with the standard arrangement of the cross pipe under the car etc.
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted December 13, 2007 Yeah, I suppose thats why it says Peugeot 1.6 GTi Custom Hose Layout. on the diagram though because its not the standard stuff. Graham.
DirtyFlare 0 Posted December 13, 2007 cheers for the replies, does anyone know the lengths required for each brake line?
Tom Fenton 1,541 Posted December 13, 2007 Piece of rope and a tape measure. Work out what you need then add another couple of metres on to be safe. The -3 line is the cheap part, its all the fittings that really make the cost mount up, esp if you want stainless stuff under the wheelarches (recommended).
