Mi16 Oil Pressure Switch (wiring Issue)

Recommended Posts

anderoo

The STOP/oil pressure/water warning lights on my new Mi16 don't work (Ignition on second click, none turn on). After reading up on here I came to the conclusion that the oil pressure switch must be faulty so tonight I replaced it.

As soon as I turned the ignition on, one of the traces burnt out on my dials! Using a multimeter it seems to be the one which feeds the stop/oil pressure/water temp warning bulbs.

Taking a reading in the engine bay from the wire feeding the switch there are 12v's as soon as the ignition is turned on, the oil pressure sender only shows 6v.

For now I've left the oil pressure disconnected but can someone point me to a wiring diagram or explain where the wire going to the switch comes from/where the problem is likely to be!

Thanks,

Andrew

its all pretty clear and easy when you realise all the wires have numbers on them :)

I mean the wires feeding the sensors, not the sensor itself.

Had a look at the caps program however from what I can see oil pressure isn't used by the ECU so it's not covered there?

Will search further but if anyone can give me a shove in the right direction it'd be a great help!

Found my problem, at some point wires 10A and 30 on the yellow connector for the dials had been switched  , meaning as soon as the switch was plugged in it was shorting the 12v wire in the dials through the pressure switch! I guess the previous pressure switch never worked.

Switched the pins back and the warning lights now work as they should. :)

Just the gearbox mount left to do tonight now, then I'll fit a proper oil pressure gauge at the weekend. :)
