ANDYMISIXTEEN 0 Posted December 1, 2007 I cant get the big center nut undone on one shock, it just keeps spining the rod. Any ideas?
oli-pug 6 2 Cars Posted December 1, 2007 Have you tried wrapping the damper rod in an old rag or something then gripping it with a set of mole grips? An impact guns normally the best thing to get em undone

Rom 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Assuming it doesnt have a flat, or allen or something you can grab hold off. Then the only way i know is gripping with mole grips. Always wrap it, and always grip near the top of the srtut. So any damage isnt gonna be low down, and damage the seals as it moves up and down. Even with a gun they can still be tough. Jrod 7 Posted December 1, 2007 I crack them off with the weight of the car on them, usually does it ok. Impact gun make it easier though.
j_turnell 137 3 Cars Posted December 1, 2007 If you havent got access to an impact gun just go to any garage and get them to wizz them off, otherwise you may damage the insert holding them with grips.
