Crank Sensor On 205 Box

Recommended Posts

rossi

Still in the process of my gti-6 conversion. Was told i needed a crank sensor as the engine i bought didnt come with one (forgotten it). So i've bought one, but the gearbox i'm using (1.9 BE1 box) doesn't have a place for the sensor to go!? This is the only thing stoppin the engine from firing up! Anyone know any way for it to fit on the box?

You'll need to get it modified to accept it, unless you grab a later gearbox.

I'd guess it will need a hole drilling and also a threaded hole next to it to take the bolt that holds it in place. You may well be better off grabbing another box if you can find one locally for cheap.

I had the same with my 1.6 box. It should have the mount on the gearbox, but without the hole machined out to take the sensor.

I took mine to QEP and they drilled it and tapped it same day iirc. Any good machining shop can do it for you.

Ben.

Sounds like the box has been swaped at some point, Most GTi's from 1988 have the hole in place, only the early 14>87 car's didn;t have the hole
