McPikie 0 Posted November 30, 2007 OK, just put a K&N on the 1600, correct AFM, piped to behund the headlight etc etc. Now the idle seems to have dropped to circa 600, and seems to be hunting more, with a flatspot around 3k Will this be the AFM being at a strange angle? Or could the AFM be fubar??
DamirGTI 342 Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) Hello ! I've had the same problem with K&N induction kit ... this affects the fuel mixture a bit (I've been checking that with an lambda sensor , first with OE pipework/filter and next with the K&N kit - fuel/air mixture with the K&N kit was dropping down on lean side , also the car was running like a bag of s**t , hesitating , popping out from the exhaust on over-run etc. , and also because of the effect of the short inlet when using this kit there must be some turbulence inside the AFM around the flap me thinks and this on the end cause wrong AFM readings .. flap vibration/bounce something like that ...) Anyway I've remove that K&N kit and fit back standard pipework and air filter and all was fine - steady idle , smooth running , good mixture ... the inlet system on the 205 Gti is very good , heat sealed system so it will be shame to ditch it and fit something else especially this kits which shortens the inlet system so much like this K&N induction kit Panel air filter is much better choice if you wish to use some other aftermarket air filter Cheers ! McPikie 0 Posted November 30, 2007 Damir, I agree with you in principle, my clio 16v ran better with a panel flter in a drilled box, seemed to have more torque. When I had it MOT'd the other day, he said it was lean on idle already, but now I have this on, I am a bit worried that it's now running really lean. Might have to get the sniffer on it at the MOT station. Can the fuelling be altered? or it it just fueld to the flap on the AFM?
ashley peddle 3 Posted December 1, 2007 you sure you plugged the afm in?
Alastairh 47 Posted December 1, 2007 Check the breather hoses for any splits, non tightened cips etc. Sounds like an air leak Also, just get it setup on the emissions mot machine to set the fueling up with the allen key bolt on the afm Al
