Mikey S 29 1 Cars Posted November 25, 2007 When i am reversing in a straight line, there is some sort of knocking or banging noise, sounds like something is getting caught somewhere, it only happens when i'm reversing? Anyone have a clue what it might be? is it a 1.6 with bendix calipers? if it is, the pads move in the calipers when reversing. its normal so i wouldnt worry about it too much. boombang 2 Posted November 25, 2007 You got a 1600? pads have a habit of banging when calipers are worn.
Guest si-gti Posted November 25, 2007 Yes it is a 1.6, should i replace the calipers?
GLPoomobile 958 Posted November 25, 2007 There's no harm in the clunking noise, and as long as the calipers, pads and discs are in good order then don't worry about it. But if you prefer (As I did) then you can stick 1.9 calipers on instead.
