Knocking Coming From Front Passenger Side Of My 306

i took my 17 inch alloys off my 306 today and put the 14 inch ones back on (ready for the snowy/crap weather)

 

when i put the 17's on originally i didnt tighten them up properly i didnt realise the the threads in the hub were full of crap.

 

i sorted that and it stopped the knocking

 

anyway, they were making the same noise as they are now

 

i cleaned all the hub threads out, copper greased the wheel nuts and made sure the nuts went all the way in

 

but its still knocking

 

its not the brakes as i replaced the discs and pads 5 months ago and i've had no problems

 

theres nothing loose there either

 

i'm going to put the 17's back on to see if that solves it but if it doesnt, i'm stumped!

is the wheel iting something? what kind of knocking is it? i'm assuming you mean like loose wheel bolts?

no, the wheel is running free as far as i can tell

as i said in my previous post it did the same with the 17's on till i cleaned the threads

its not quite a knocking, i thought it may be a weight on the inside of the wheel but it aint

just been on a 25 mile drive and cant feel anything through the steering wheel or any part of the car

but it does only do it at low speeds (20ish miles an hour)

 

will have another look tomorrow/today

but it wasn't doing it with the 17's on, gona have look at it again in a bit

 

just lacking a bit on enthusiasm right now

right, checked it all again today

found nothing out of the ordinary

 

but went for a drive and found that it only makes the noise at 15/20 mph but only on left hand bends/lock

 

its more of a scrape than a knock now

 

could it be some thing trapped on/around the brakes?

 

its starting to really annoy me now

peugeots must be magical

 

its completely stopped now....

 

i've done about 200 miles with it knocking and this morning as if by magic its stopped

 

but knowing my luck its the calm before the bloody storm!!!!!
