Brilliant 2row Ecu Guide

Recommended Posts

24seven

Ok so with this problem I've been haivng with my Mi16 not sparking recently I've been looking for a guide to the ignition system.

The other day I was randomly searching for pictures of BX's and was trying to see if anyone had had a go at the styling of them, particularly curious to see what may have been done about the rear wheel half cover thing. I found a website dedicated to BX19 16V's and on it was a download for a program called CAPS. It's got literally everything you need to know about the 2 row ECU found in the BX and the Mi16

I don't know whether or not this program is known by people on here, but at the off chance it's not, I thought I'd post it up anyway.

Enjoy!

Edit - see attached file as link above is dead.

MODS: I think this should be made a sticky somewhere as it is invaluable!

some motronic 3.1 info

the afm link has some good how to's on diagnosing problems using a volt meter, it also has nominal values.. good if your not too hot on electrics.

explains that the fuel pump relay is actually an accident / fuel not pumping relay

explains how to adjust the fuel mixture to cope with different petrol ratings 95/98 or adjust the mixture

I checked and this program is very good, but is this information suitable for my 205 XUJ9A. Especially the ECU pin numbers?

Not always, this is for the Motronic ML4.1 & M1.3 ecu's fitted to the XU9J4 Mi16 engine in either the Citroen BX 16v or Peugeot 405 Mi16.

If you have a 1.9 GTi with the XU9JA/Z 122bhp catalised engine then some of the information on the M1.3 will be relevent but not all.

Graham.

Thanks I have 130bhp one without cataly. I understand that mine is L-jetronic.

But again the program is fantastic because of the instructions to check the components is shown

Doesn't appear to work with 64bit windows as it's a 16 bit program, so I believe you'll need 32bit XP to be able to run this.

Had this for years, its was invaluable when i used the Mi16 as a daily driver (will be again soon).

Sadly i have recently upgraded to Win7 64bit so am currently working on a way to continue using it - maybe dosbox or somesuch, we will see.

Use a VMWare Player with a WindowsXP virtual machine! This will solve the problem! :)

VirtualBox seems to be the way forward for me at least....much the same as you said really. :)

Just to tidy up an old thread, i am now using virtualbox (https://www.virtualbox.org/) to emulate WinXP 32bit on my Win7 64bit PC and it runs CAPS fine, is a quick and easy solution but bear in mind you need a copy of winXP to install on virtualbox.

Does anybody have a copy of caps.zip? I accidentally deleted the VM I had it in and now I can't find a working download link anywhere.

Nice one Anthony, I've been through the old hdd where I expected to have it but it's not there.

I've got the old foldershare discs somewhere & I'm sure it would've been on there also.
