jims205s16 1 Posted November 13, 2007 hi everyone, finished installing a 306 s16 engine in my 205 but have idleing problem i have fitted the oxygen sensor in exhaust and tested this and works fine the idle speed sensor seems to be working as when disconnected just dies instantly on tickover problem is if you gradually bring down the revs you can get it to tick over lumpy for a 5 seconds or so then clears and at the correct rpm but if you just come off the gas it trys to keep going splutters but then dies any ideas what i have missed any suggestions more than welcome as scatching my head at the moment cheers jamie
welshpug 1,657 Posted November 13, 2007 is the MAP sensor plugged in and the pipe not kinked at all?
jims205s16 1 Posted November 13, 2007 the sensors are all plugged in but i would have to check the pipe ill have a look at that tomorrow that would be an easy fix fingers crossed cheers
stuart.m 0 Posted November 15, 2007 i had a similar problem on my 405 (same engine), easy to stall and a bit rough in general, was indeed the MAP sensor hose, had come loose at the ecu end out of sight so obviously the map sensor wasnt reading right! if you take it off at the manifold end and try sucking through it you should not be able to suck anything, i.e. its holding vacuum, no leaks hope its something so simple! jims205s16 1 Posted November 15, 2007 going to spend some time on it saturday will have a good look over if the piping is all correct is there a test to see if the map sensor is working correctly as dont have spare of this. only other thing i have done different from original is dont have a purge canistor fitted have simply blocked this off thought that should be fine but thought would mention in case im wrong cheers
jims205s16 1 Posted November 22, 2007 right been playing with the car over the weekend and now i can get it to tick over lovely when warm but when cold wont tick over at all map sensor all plugged in and fine as previous suggestion was wondering if the heat element in the lambada sensor is not working properly could this cause the lack of idle when cold as not sending the right information if anyone experienced the same please let me know how you fixed it cheers jamie
pugrallye 0 Posted November 23, 2007 lambda probes do not operate on cold start idle full stop so forget looking there. If its temperature dependant start looking towards faulty coolant temp senders for running probs or dirty clogged throttle bodies for idling issues also idle control valve is clogged or on way out
