Ritmo 0 1 Cars Posted November 13, 2007 Hi, I have picked up a pair of Bendix front calipers for my 1.6GTI but I dont know if they are off a 1.6 or 1.9 is there any way of telling the differance by looking at them. The codes on the carrier is 343 144 and the other side 343 143 and on the caliper 1989 and the other 1789! Also if they are 1.9 calipers will I need to get different disks and pads?? thanks in advance
Miles 331 1 Cars Posted November 13, 2007 All the UK Bendix one's are 1.6's, Never seen any different unless some of the Euro spec one's had different
pug_ham 244 3 Cars Posted November 14, 2007 Like Miles said, Bendix are always from a 1.6 but if they were Girlings they are most likely from a 1.9 GTi. The pads for Bendix & girling are different in shape & size to girling ones. Discs can stay the same whatever 205 (1.6 or 1.9GTi) but the calipers use different length mounting bolts to hold them to the hubs. Graham.
