Wobbly Speedo Needle

Please could anyone tell me the cause of a wobbly speedo needle. This settles down when your reach approimately 50mph. Would I be right in saying a new speedo cable will resolve this issue?

Fitting a new cable resolved my wobbly needle issue, not a difficult job either :)

i had this problem for ages, i replaced the cable and it sorted it.. for about a month then it came back the exact same, so i changed the actually clock in the dash (2 screws) and it fixed it , never gone wrong since

nearly every pug ive ever been in has this including mine doesnt bother me at all just one of the traits of the car i feel

Every peugeot from the early 90s iv been in has this problem.

 

I recon its your speedometer giving you an 'average speed value' of how fast you're going...!! :)
