andykandy205 0 Posted November 11, 2007 (edited) Right i have a 2.0l 8v turbo not sure which car it came from but its an rgx which i believe is the later 150bhp version however when setting the engine on tdc i bent valves . So when setting up tdc on crankshaft pulley what pistons should be up This is how my valves sit all back togetther is this right http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/c4rpm4n/DSC00144.jpg Edited November 14, 2007 by pugtorque image file sizes, 800 x 600 & 120k max please. welshpug 1,666 Posted November 11, 2007 there arent any marks, just pins. sometimes the bonded crank pulleys perish and the outed bit with the hole slips, use an 8valve pulley to get the timing spot on if youre unsure of the condition of the pulley IIRC. andykandy205 0 Posted November 11, 2007 but in order to set the timimg i have to take off the crankshaft pulley off cause the actual pulley the belt goes on is hidden behind the crankshaft pulley
welshpug 1,666 Posted November 11, 2007 no, you just set it before you put the head on, that pulley should be off anyway.
andykandy205 0 Posted November 11, 2007 (edited) http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/c4rpm4n/DSC00142.jpg this is the pulley im working with Edited November 14, 2007 by pugtorque Image file sizes, 800 x 600 & 120k max please.
andykandy205 0 Posted November 11, 2007 with the bottom pulley jammed all my pistons are level does any 1 know if this is correct
mickie 3 Posted November 11, 2007 tdc is when piston 1 and 4 are at there very top and 2/3 bottom.. so at a guess your camshaft is in the wrong position, because your last valve would hit a piston
andykandy205 0 Posted November 11, 2007 but the camshaft is locked with a timing pin so it cant be wrong
welshpug 1,666 Posted November 12, 2007 http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f168/c4rpm4n/DSC00142.jpg this is the pulley im working with thats a sprocket not a pulley! fit the Auxillary belt pulley on loosely (on the woodruff key) and set the crank in position, remove the auxillary pulley again. lock the camshaft pulley, fit the head, fit the belt, make sure the bottom pulley hole lines up.
