They are driving lamps so they should only come on with main beam with the main beam from the headlights.

You don't want to drive round with sidelights on and the driving lamps on do you?

I adjust my mirrors to shine the light straight back at them

either that or let rip with a long stream of washer water, drag the brakes, put the rear fog light on and accelerate away.

;o)

Am I a complete bastard?

No - I had a 320 mile drive from the M6 to the M25 and some twat in a van had full beams and driving lights blinding me badly (205 Gti 1.9 by the way). Every time I slowed down to let him past, he'd slow down to 60 mph. And with a 320 mile drive back home, I had no intention of staying at 60 mph. Sod the law, but when I speeded up, he followed and tried to keep up. Bastard.

And before you say 'should have left him for dead in a GTi' my car was being run in. I have done 1200 miles on this engine.

(ok then I'll admit - 95 mph is 5500 rpm on my motor - didn't fancy thrashing after 1200 miles)

PS if the van owner is on this board - you're an asshole.

the other thing to note is the height of many 4wds/SUVs/vans headlights. They are quite a bit higher than cars and this alone can be annoying (especially to us close to the ground in 205s). It pisses me off to be followed by something like a new Hang Over (Range Rover) equipped with xenon lights and looming large in my m  irrors like the death star...

Yeah, have memories of having a twat in a RR flicking his lights and spots onto mainbeam when he failed to overtake me coz someone was coming towards us. He eventually managed to overtake a mile or so later, by which time i couldnt see and was exceedingly pissed off.

I was with two of my more psychotic friends, so we followed him home.... dont think hell be pulling that trick again.

Buy a Saxo?

Nah, if you want to be able to do that, then you're going to have to do some rewiring (as the driving lights are run from the main beams as standard) and fit a switch to turn them on and off.

My question though is why you'd want to be able to turn the fog/driving lights on with just the side lights anyway?

Lol @ re read the thread.

205GTis have driving lights which only come on with full beam this is because they are Driving lights and not fog lights.

If you rewire them to come on with side lights you will be dazzling everyone coming towards you.

If you do re-wire them, you ought to change the lenses for foglight lenses, the ones of a scrapped 405 should do the trick, as the lenses you have are DRIVING LIGHT lenses.

But you'll still look like a twat.

EDIT: And people will follow you home and shout at you and threaten to hit you with metal bars.

lol

sounds like fun! am going to have to pop to the scrappy now...find me some 405 fog lights.

Just another question?

is it easlier to connect it to the side lights...instead of having a seperate switch for it?

If you want fog lights then connect it to the fog light switch! The police can stop you (although they rarely do) for having fog lights on when it isn't foggy so wiring fog lights to the sides ain't a great idea. I have fog lights on my 306 and they are almost 100% useless. They light up the ground only close to the car (as is required for dense fog) so unless you are going quite slowly then they are no use at all. Only times I have used them is in thick fog (twice) and on ice (once), that is 3 times in about 3 years!!!!!!

back onto people driving behind with main beam on, my cousin has a Ford Bronco 4x4 for off-road use, which also happens to have two 100W reversing lights on an independant switch.

Needless to say, the person following dropped back rather rapidly.

No it doesn't look cool but it must give a 10bhp increase, especially with the K&N filter fitted. (JK)

The handy thing about having all the rude boys driving around with their fogs on is you know which ones to race. Like nothing better than the look on a kitted VTR driver and his 14yo girlfriend's faces as my rather muddy F-reg shed pisses all over them from a significant height.

Some foglights, although useless, are exceedingly bright to on coming cars.

The f***ers must get a shock when my 205's unusually bright 'foglights' suddenly light up too. <_<

Time for some 100w bulbs I think.

Its technically illegal to have either your rear OR front fogs on, unless visibility has been reduced to less than 100 metres.

No, it is illegal!

What makes me laugh is older cars that have them zip tied under the bumper and switched on.
