Converting A 16v Block To 8v

Recommended Posts

christopher

As above.

Is there anything special that I need??

Which parts do I use from an 8V?

Tensioner?

Water Pump?

What else do I need to be aware of?

Thanks

Christopher

I thought the blocks were pretty much the same apart from a hole in the 16v block for the extra tensioner/idler for the 16v cambelt.

Water pump should be the same iirc. Use the 8v tensioner (But saying that the 16v one could be the same)

You have to swap the cambelt sprocket (19 to 21 tooth), unless you use a later 8v cam pulley (38 vs 42 tooth). That's about it.

Ok Thanks guys..

As far as the tensioner. I'm really not sure what to use. I mean the 1.3, 1.4, 1.6 8v, 1.6 16v all I think have different part numbers

What is the difference I don't know

Your also need to block up the oil return pipe from the 16v head.
